Latvia Weekly: Kremlin Narratives Paint Latvia as a Failing State

Main narratives:

• Government does not care about the people;
• Prices are extremely high;
• Latvia is not democratic.

Overview:

Kremlin-aligned and local conspiratorial Telegram channels portrayed Latvia as an undemocratic, failed state which does not care about its citizens. Some narratives were about high inflation. Other narratives were about healthcare, which is unaffordable or unfairly provided for free to Ukrainians wounded in the war. Another set of narratives was about the US and were falsely claiming that the US is going to close down or decrease the number of services in its embassies in Kyiv and Riga.
