by Olevs Nikers

Main narratives:

  • Allegations of electoral manipulation involving corrupt practices among politicians.
  • Policies reducing the use of non-native languages in official domains seen as threats to cultural diversity.
  • Ongoing criticism of government financial management, particularly concerning the impact of borrowing.
  • Concerns over government involvement in religious institution affairs.
  • Media scrutiny of celebrities and public figures over their political neutrality.

Overview:

This week most of the posts targeted Tallinn’s politicians, especially after the vote of no confidence and voting.  There were claims that corrupt politicians were swaying the votes, and that the politicians were still as incompetent as the last government with financial issues.  There were also posts about the government changing the names of buildings with “Russian” in them to “minority” as well as a post saying that Estonian journalists target famous people who do not disclose their political opinions.
