During the week, anti-governmental sentiments continued to be expressed across social media accounts. Many posts targeted the Reform Party, which holds the most seats in the Estonian parliament.

Overview:

During the week, anti-governmental sentiments continued to be expressed across social media accounts. Many posts targeted the new taxes and rising cost of living in Estonia, placing the blame on the government and the Reform Party, which holds the most seats in the Estonian parliament.

Some posts also focused on Ukraine and Estonia’s role in the war, with claims about lies told by Ukrainian politicians and the secrets they allegedly keep from citizens, particularly in light of the Independence Day of Ukraine celebrated on the 24th of August.

Additionally, there were ongoing posts about the teacher shortage following changes to the language law, mandated a transition to Estonian as the primary language of instruction in all educational institutions, as well as posts alleging that the government is attempting to revoke voting rights for Russians and Belarusians in Estonia.
